Cure For Alcoholism: Drink Your Way Sober Without Will Power, Abstinence or Discomfort

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Should have been entitled "The Cure for Alcoholism?"
This book deals with The Sinclair Method (TSM). I am in the UK and I tried TSM for 38 weeks. I got my naltrexone prescription from a private doctor. This book is misleading regarding the timescale to reach a cure. It talks about three to four months but this is wildly optimistic. Most people take far longer, if TSM is successful. It is my personal view that the quoted 78% success rate is also optimistic. One has to remember that this figure was the result of a tightly-controlled clinical trial. I would invite anyone considering TSM to check out the TSM forum on the internet. This is a group of people who are engaged in the real-world trial of TSM. Then, you will be better advised. TSM is probably more successful than other approaches to curing alcoholism. Unfortunately, the book title gives the impression that you will unfailingly overcome your alcohol problem. TSM comes with no such guarantees; it did not work for me.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Sounds Amazing
If this realy works, and previous research suggests that it does in 78% of patients [and 100% of lab rats]. What a godsend for people struggling with alcoholism.I do not know if this drug is available the UK, or if GPs will prescribe it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - This book is no good for people in the uk
I was so excited when i found this book on amazon uk. When I it read i wanted to try nalrexone myself, only i discovered you can not get it in the uk, it is only available if you are an heroin addict. So its not much good reading about a "cure" when you can;t try it your self. Would recommend this book for people outside the uk though

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Must Read for All Problem Drinkers
As a drinker who has tried many times to cut down or quit entirely without any success, I must admit I picked up this book with a certain amount of skepticism.

The book describes how Dr. Sinclair discovered with the help of some laboratory rats that by using an opioid antagonist drug, Naltrexone, or Revia, (as it is more commonly know as in Europe) the rat's desire for alcohol was diminished or extinguished completely over a short period of time.

In following human tests around 90 percent of all patients are able to quit drinking entirely or become 'normal' drinkers by using his method.
In humans, the process typically takes around 3 to 6 months to complete.

This book is a must read for anybody who is worried about their or a loved one's drinking. The treatment is simple, painless, discreet and inexpensive.

Don't delay- my own drinking is currently well within 'safe' levels, and I am only partly through the treatment.
